Tokunbo Sode

Classroom Teacher
My name, Tokunbo, derives from the Yoruba language. It translates as ‘born across the sea’; meaning, I was not born in Africa but across the sea in Europe. To be precise, I was born in Vienna. I came to the UK in my mid-teens. Although I lived in the East End of London for most of my life, I obtained my post graduate teaching degree in Sheffield. I transitioned from finance into education after committing a few hours a week as a volunteer teacher for a small community hub in South Yorkshire. I believe that education should be an enriching experience in a person’s life and I have encouraged many people to make it so.
