Admissions

Initial Interview - Come and Meet the Team and Take a Look Around

The admissions process begins with an initial interview, where students and their families visit SOC Alternative Education Provision (AEP). This visit allows them to meet the staff, explore the facilities, and ask any questions. It’s a chance to get a feel for the environment and begin building a supportive relationship between the student, their family, and the AEP team.

Agree on an Individual Learning Plan

Following the interview, an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) is created to meet the student’s unique needs and goals. This plan is developed collaboratively, ensuring it reflects the student’s academic aims and personal aspirations. The ILP sets out the objectives and support required to help the student achieve their full potential.

Gather Your Student Profile - EHCP, SEND, and Medical Info

Next, all relevant information, such as Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) documentation, and medical details, is gathered to create a comprehensive student profile. This ensures the AEP team fully understands the student’s needs and can provide the necessary support.

Baseline Assessments in English and Maths

Before finalising the student’s timetable, baseline assessments in English and Maths are conducted to gauge their current levels. These assessments help tailor the learning experience by identifying areas where the student may need additional support or challenge, ensuring they are placed in the right classes.

Arrange Your Timetable and Who Your Tutors Will Be

The final stage involves arranging the student’s timetable and assigning tutors. Based on the previous information, the AEP team selects the courses and tutors that best suit the student’s needs. By the end of this stage, the student knows their weekly schedule and who their tutors will be.

With these steps completed, the student is ready to begin their journey with SOC Alternative Education Provision, fully equipped and supported.
