Academic Progress
Assessment and Course Placement
All students will undergo English and Mathematics baseline assessments to determine appropriate courses for their individual study programs. These courses range from Entry Level 3 to Level 2 Functional Skills, or OCR GCSE Mathematics and English Language.
An initial discussion with stakeholders and students will cover the OCR GCSE and Pearson BTEC courses available for the student's tenure at SoC Alternative Provision.
Students will participate in enrichment programs in Creative Arts, Combined Science and Humanities. OCR GCSE alternatives are available for these subjects. Sports takes place one afternoon a week at Aldersley stadium.
Offered qualifications include NOCN certified Level 1 Personal Wellbeing, Pearson BTEC Level 1 Work Skills, and Pearson BTEC Level 1 Sports, aimed at enhancing student portfolios and preparing them for life beyond SoC Alternative Education.
SoC Alternative Education provides NOCN certified courses in Scratch, Python, and Java, along with practical programming experience using Edisons, Crumbles, and Drones.
